Born 1958, Chris first began programming on a DEC PDP8 in 1975. He gained a degree in mathematics in 1979 and, after a brief spell as a mathematician in the aerospace industry, got sucked into the rapidly growing computer industry. Chris has developed software at all levels from assembly language upwards, on everything from microprocessors to mainframes, and has learnt through hard experience the value of good, disciplined commenting and thorough documentation. "Documentation is as much a part of the finished product as the code itself."

He discovered Mambo in 2003 while searching for a content management system for an intranet project. Although impressed by the product itself, he felt that the lack of documentation was a major weakness. Rather than complaining, he set about trying to fix the problem by writing his own and was soon recruited to the Documentation Team. He switched to Joomla as soon as the split occurred and is now responsible for developer documentation.

He passed his MA in 1989 and his Ph.D. in 1992. Born and living in Cologne, Germany, David got in touch with web development during school in 2002. After a few years working with plain HTML sites, he started to develop his own CMS in 2004 and switched to Mambo shortly after. He quickly became an active member of the German community and met them in person for the first time during JoomlaDay Germany 2006. After school, he started his business as a freelance webdeveloper and quickly got more involved in the community by giving support in the forums, co-organizing the German JoomlaDay and the J&Beyond conference, starting a Joomla Usergroup in his home town, developing own extensions and joining the board of the German Joomla association "J&Beyond e.V.". Don Gilbert has been working with Joomla since 2007. He became active in the community around 2011, asking and answering questions on the mailing lists. He’s been a member of both the JBS and JSST, and has had many code contributions to the CMS and Platform, such as code style improvements and writing unit tests. Born and living in Iquique, Guillermo meet Web Development early 2000's during his studies at Bussines Administration. Related with Joomla since 2007, when he create he's first Joomla website.

The Joomla community involvement began with the co-fundation of the local community, Joomla.cl. In that community he become administrator of the help forum and editor of the community blog. Then he start to volunteer in the Joomla Community Magazine in which he manage the International Stories section, and prepare all non-English articles for launch. He also lead the Spanish authors and translators group for the magazine, which currently produces half of the total articles in each new issue. He's working with the multilingual team to prepare the magazine for a better in-language experience, and to make it easier to translate articles. Helvecio "Elvis" da Silva is a Brazilian graphic and web designer who started developing websites with Joomla since its release in 2005. As his knowledge of Joomla increased, he started presenting the CMS to general audiences, military and educational institutions in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He started volunteering as an illustrator and an author for the Joomla Community Magazine. After a while, when version 3.4 was released, he started contributing to translating Joomla and the J!Docs into Brazilian Portuguese. As a graphic designer, he contributed to creating the visual identities for several Joomla events as well as imageries for the Joomla Project.

Javier Gomez was born in Barcelona (Spain) and works as Quality Assurance Engineer. Former news reporter from 1969 to 1985, wearing multiple hats (NHK TV, Gamma, freelance for many magazines), he focused on post-colonial conflicts (Africa, Middle-East, Central America) as well as social conflicts in Europe.

Mark started writing software in the 1970s on punch cards and, for 28 years, co-owned and ran a company that develops software for construction companies. During this time, he did everything from design and development to support, training, and documentation.

After retiring in 2007, Mark decided to learn more about open source software. After becoming the webmaster for a small non-profit organization, he discovered Joomla and started using version 1.5.2 in early 2008. He made the mistake of pressing the Help button and discovered that most of the help documentation hadn't been written yet. So he volunteered to write documentation and has continued to learn about Joomla and try to contribute to the project.

In the Joomla project, Mark is currently a Bug Squad Coordinator, a Development Coordinator, and the Administrator for the Joomla Student Outreach Program (JSOP). He has been a moderator on the forums, a member of the Documentation working group, and the Administrator for the 2009 Google Summer of Code program. He also has written four extensions.

Mark is especially interested in the area of automated testing using PHPUnit and Selenium. Mark has found the Joomla community to be incredibly friendly and welcoming and is excited about helping to make Joomla even better.

Marko's interest in computers started with the first release of the Commodore C64, but it switched fast to the first available IBM XT computer in mid 80's. Michelle Bisson is one of the founding members of Joomla. Prior to that, she was invited onto the Mambo Core Team in early 2004 after having been active in the Mambo community since mid-2003.

She partners with Levis Bisson in a Web development company, Jazzisoft International Inc., which specializes in custom programming for the Quebec government and developing Joomla based sites for the municipal government, businesses, and non-profits. Their company is also known as POPcliQ in Quebec, Canada. They speak fluent English and French and have started to offer their services internationally.

Nick Savov has been involved with Joomla for about two and a half years and web related work for only three years. He's a quick learner and enjoys learning new things by applying himself until a goal is accomplished. Omar is currently the webmaster at Imperial Valley College (IVC) in Southern California. In that role he's used Joomla as the primary platform for developing web applications for the college tying in disparate systems such as Sungard Banner and Microsoft Active Directory into the college's web presence. Peter has been working in the Joomla space since the Mambo days and then moving on to Joomla as the communities spilt. He started learning Joomla by reverse engineering templates and working out what made them tick. He now co-leads a web design and development agency based in Sydney, Australia with his girlfriend and partner providing solutions for clients using the Joomla CMS.

Rey's Open Source involvement started with Mambo while at Uni in mid 2003 while looking for something to run a Sports Assoc site. Ric, 30, of Kent, United Kingdom, is an IT manager and discovered Mambo in 2003 while looking for a corporate CMS. He now spends his time coding Open Source systems for companies that don't have large IT budgets. This comes from his corporate Java background which was soon dropped when PHP5 hit the servers. Robert founded his consulting company in 2002 and first came in contact with Mambo in 2004 while he was looking for a tool to manage his company website. Like many people he was infected by the open source virus and co-founded Mambo e.V. (later renamed to JandBeyond e.V.) and organised in 2005 the mamboday as community event. At the beginning of Joomla! he was part of the Design & Accessibility Team and later co-created the first beez template.

Between 2010 and 2012 he was an OSM Board member and the Events Team Leader and organised the first Joomla! World Conference. Since 2010 he has also organised JandBeyond - An International Joomla! Conference.

Sander’s Joomla passion started back in 2005 by building a Joomla website for his rowing team. Next to his studies Architecture at Delft University of Technology Sander is a Joomla freelancer working on all kinds of Joomla projects.

The involvement with the Joomla community started back in 2008, as co-founder of the local Dutch community www.joomlacommunity.eu. In a short period they established a solid community with an active team of volunteers. Growing up her entire life in Seattle, Tessa received her web application degree and certification and was hired late 2011 at a Ski and Snowboard company creating their manufacturing websites. After years of being a programmer, then being a project manager, he finally became an IT manager.
